Bandarlampung, Lampung, Aug 25 (ANTARA LAMPUNG) - Prospective Hajj pilgrims from Bandarlampung in Lampung Province should be aware of the spread of the deadly Ebola virus, stated Bandarlampung Hajj Fraternity Bond (IPHI) spokesman Tobroni Harun.

"They have to be aware of Ebola and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (MERS-CoV), which has spread in 21 countries, particularly in the Middle East including Saudi Arabia," Tobroni noted here on Monday.

He remarked that prospective Hajj pilgrims from Bandarlampung must be on guard against the virus that may be transmitted by pilgrims coming from West African countries such as Liberia, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone.

The Bandarlampung deputy mayor also called on relevant departments to pay special attention to the health condition of prospective pilgrims before they leave for the holy land of Mecca.

Earlier, Head of the Hajj and Umrah coaching section Lemra Horizon remarked that 1,408 prospective Hajj pilgrims from Bandarlampung this year will leave for Saudi Arabia on September 14, 2014.

"The number of pilgrims from Bandarlampung is the largest as compared to other regions in the province of Lampung," Lemra stated, adding that the pilgrims will be divided into 11 flight groups.
